HomeCombustion Appliances
Energy auditors keep the health and safety of occupants in mind through the entire audit and weatherization process. For that reason, it is important to check furnaces, water heaters, and other combustion appliances for flame roll out, gas leaks, draft and proper ventilation.
In the Energy Auditor Course you will learn how to complete a Combustion Appliance Safety Test, often referred to as a Worst Case Scenario Test. This test should be completed as part of the original audit. The home also needs to be retested when all of the weatherization improvements have been completed. This will verify for the homeowner that they and/or other occupants of the home are not at increased risk of CO poisoning or health issues caused by the appliance gasses.
